Abortion is the “deliberate termination of a human pregnancy” and it ends the life of an innocent human being, the baby in the womb.
Abortion is also going to be the political hot topic for this election year. Each candidate is going to play this card to the fullest and talk about rights. But I doubt any of them will actually mention that abortion is a violent act that ignores the right to life of the human whose life is being ended.
And those touting for abortion will most certainly mention that women’s lives are at risk because certain states, like Texas, have made abortion illegal.
Let’s look at the facts. All states, including Texas, allow exceptions to the law when it involves the life of the mother.
Chapter 170A of the Texas Health & Safety Code prohibits abortions outright, except in certain circumstances. One of those circumstances is when the mother has a life-threatening condition and is at risk of death or “substantial impairment of a major bodily function” if the abortion is not performed. (taken from the Texas State Law Library).
If the baby has died, then the pregnancy is no longer viable and medical care should be given. I can’t speak for every case that happens in every state, but I can speak to this. 2800 babies’ lives are ended through abortion every day in this country. And there are many more because not every state reports the number of abortions performed.
In their opinion piece published August 1, Wade Eagleton stated that not all pregnancies are trouble free and that is correct.
However, the vast majority of abortions performed are for convenience sake and do not involve any concern for the life of the mother, and never any consideration for the life of the baby.
I’m saddened to think that being pro-life isn’t considered a good thing but is considered dangerous.
I am not a male with a strong opinion. I am a woman with a strong opinion who has experienced both the joys of child birth and the violence of abortion. I wish someone (male or female) had been there sharing their pro-life opinion with me when I made the worst decision of my life, to end the life of my child.
In my opinion saving the lives of innocent children is a good thing. And if that makes me a “diehard”, then so be it. I will continue to share my female opinion that abortion is wrong and that I hope someday it becomes unthinkable.
